All the land at Burning Life '08 has been awarded; the camps and art are going up! Thanks to everyone who is building, and if you didn't get any land to build on, do not despair. There will be so many fun events here, just come and enjoy it with us! And try again next year.
Altogether, the team gave out 381 plots of land at the event site, of which 82 are specifically tagged "art" and the rest are Theme Camps which contain a mixture of art and craziness.
The land give away worked like this: First, we solicited proposals for Theme Camps on the main road (Esplanade) and got about 130 entries for a total of 58 spots. A group of four veteran Burners voted for their favorites, all the votes were tallied, and 58 camps started moving onto the Esplanade. Camps were judged on concept and degree of interactivity, then placed according to their PG or M rating and how they complemented each other best. Final Theme Camp placement was done by Dusty Linden.
Next, there were a series of land rushes spread over the course of a week and timed to be convenient for people in all time zones. In these first-come, first-served rushes, we gave away:
* First Come First Serve, camp sites, Large: Large varied from about 2600 sqm to 3080 sqm. Prims from about 1100 to 1900.
* First Come First Serve, camp sites, Small: Small varied from about 1200 sqm to 1500 sqm. Prims from about 480 to 650.
* First come first served Art Plots - All sized 576sqm with 222 prims
Finally, we had a lottery for the last 60 or so plots, which was handled by our Amazing Computer Oracle, and was completely random.
Thanks to everyone who participated, to all the builders that are toiling away right now, and to all of you who plan to join us September 27th - October 5th. Burn On.
